A simple and modern circle patterned shweshwe fabric from South Africa. This one is a mix of turquoise and white motifs against a very dark chocolate brown background. It is a medium weight cotton with a lovely drape and great for quilting as well as dressmaking. To give you an idea of the scale of the pattern, a tape measure is shown in the last image with units displayed in both centimetres and inches. This fabric is sold by the metre and this listing is for one metre of fabric. ABOUT SHWESHWE FABRIC Shweshwe is a printed dyed cotton fabric widely used in traditional South African clothing; dresses, skirts, and so on. It was originally dyed indigo but is now manufactured in a variety of colours and designs. The formal name for shwe shwe is ‘Indigo-dyed discharge printed fabric’. It is a trademarked fabric and is manufactured by Da Gama Textiles in the Zwelitsha township outside King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
