The Siberian Parka pattern is for a roomy, easy-to-sew parka. It is easily pulled over the head, keeping out the cold. It is based on a smock worn by men in Siberia, with added pockets to keep the hands warm. This type of Parka would traditionally be made of tanned leather, but you can make it of any outerwear fabric, from wool to polar fleece. It can also make a great coverup for the beach or poolside, made in a double gauze or cotton voile. It can also be made into garment for protection from the rain using a waxed fabric. PATTERN DETAILS: This is a paper pattern and is sized (American sizing) for both men and women from EXTRA SMALL to EXTRA LARGE FABRIC SUGGESTIONS: For a warm garment: Medium to heavyweight outerwear fabrics such as wool, sweatshirt jersey, or fleece. For a rain garment: waxed cotton or waxed linen fabric. For a sun coverup: double gauze or cotton voile.
