No need to drill a hole in your bassoon to fit this balance hanger. Almost universal the Ortwein Balance hanger comes in several different styles. Made from a light Aluminium, this hanger attaches to the neck strap ring and rests on the boot joint band which is protected by soft foam pads. Fox style balance will fit Fox bassoons and most lesser known brands. Heckel Style balance will fit Heckel, Moosmann and most European design bassoon. Neither style will fit Howarth bassoons.
