A beautiful new Aso-oke fabric which combines dark pink stripes with thinner blue stripes against a black background. ABOUT THE FABRIC: Aso-Oke (pronounced ah-SHOW-kay) is short for Aso Ilu Oke which means clothes from the up-country. It is also sometimes refereed to as Aso-Ofi. It is a hand loom, woven cloth made mostly by the Yoruba tribe of south west Nigeria. It is of a similar tradition to Kente cloth from Ghana. It is woven in strips and these strips are traditionally sewn together to make clothing. It is a thick fabric which is similar in texture to denim or canvas. This makes it a great choice for upholstery projects, cushions, totes, bags and more. It also works well as a trim for larger projects. HOW TO BUY: You can order the length of the fabric strip you require by using the arrows above to specify quantity. Your fabric will be sent as one continuous length. The width of the strip is 7 inches (18 cm). You can then cut and sew together the pieces for your own specific needs. Use pinking shears and cut across the width of the material. Avoid cutting along the length of the material as the weave will unravel. You also have the option of buying a half bundle which is 8 metres or the full bundle of 16 metres which will give you a saving compared to buying by the metre. Kindly note that this particular batch is especially thick and stiff, so bear this in mind when choosing for your particular project.
