A lovely bright shweshwe cotton print. This is the original shweshwe fabric from South Africa but in a modern colourway; a mix of blue, yellow and pink. The colours make me think of a circus carousel, all bright and sparkly!. It is a medium weight cotton with a lovely drape and great for quilting as well as dressmaking. It was originally dyed indigo but is now manufactured in a variety of colours and designs. The formal name for shwe shwe is ‘Indigo-dyed discharge printed fabric’. It is a trademarked fabric and is manufactured by Da Gama Textiles in the Zwelitsha township outside King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
