A lovely bright shweshwe cotton print. This is the original shweshwe fabric from South Africa but in a modern colourway; a mix of blue, yellow and pink. It is a medium weight cotton with a lovely drape and great for quilting as well as dressmaking. ABOUT SHWESHWE FABRIC Shweshwe is a printed dyed cotton fabric widely used in traditional South African clothing; dresses, skirts, and so on. It was originally dyed indigo but is now manufactured in a variety of colours and designs. The formal name for shwe shwe is ‘Indigo-dyed discharge printed fabric’. It is a trademarked fabric and is manufactured by Da Gama Textiles in the Zwelitsha township outside King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
